Hyderabad: Gone are the days where social media was all about the gold and glitters. The platform which is usually preferred to share the bright and happy stuff has also expanded its horizons as users began sharing their deepest secrets, insecurities or even their failures.

In such a case, a youngster and a redditor turned to social media to seek help or probably to rant and find solace when she found herself in a tough spot.


“Gonna Die” wrote the redditor,who chose to remain anonymous, when she found out that she had failed in the Chemistry exam in her Inter first year exams.

As the results of the recently concluded board exams was declared in Telangana, a Hyderabad Inter first year student and a reddit user was prone to the shock of life as the user failed in Chemistry paper. The young redditor who could not comprehend the setback took the help of social media to deal with her depression and suicidal tendencies.

“Hello everyone I uhh failed in my chem IPE 1st year. Still can’t comprehend this I should’ve a least passed when compared with pre-board which were decent results and yeah apparently re-evaluation results are after supply exams,” the redditor expressed.

Interestingly and in an heart-warming gesture, the platform was immediately filled with motivational and encouraging replies for the youngster’s post. Some of the users even shared their personal experiences in an attempt to uplift the redditor’s fallen confidence.

“Vaarni dinike….Btech lo 18 subjects vunde anni okkesari rasi pass ayya dragon movie laga. Ipudu software company lo developer ga chestuna with 25 LPA,” (Oh! Do not feel depressed for such little incidents. I had 18 backlogs while I was studying Btech, I had cleared all of them in a single attempt similar to the movie Dragon. Now I’m working in a software company as a developer with 25 LPA) a redditor wrote.

While another redditor encouraged the youngster to work hard the next time, other user shared a similar incident that had happened, the redditor wrote, “I also failed in Chem in 2nd year. I had cleared the supplementary exam and then changed to B.Com. Today I’m a chartered accountant. Life is all about fighting back. This too shall pass.”

Though the youngster feared about consequences after the setback, the user found a friend in the social media community to might have encouraged the user through the bad times.

In days where people claim social media has secluded people and reduced human-to-human interaction, such incidents let us ponder about the new doors that these platforms offer for people, especially for youngsters for whom these platform have become more than just a tool.
