Police bust ganja peddling gang in Nellore


Police officials arrested a gang of five persons for selling ganja in Nellore and seized 5 kg ganja worth ₹2.5 lakh from them. The accused have been identified as Ranjit Nayak, Shaik Hussain, Shaik Rafi, Bhanu Prakash, and Vamsi Krishna from Nellore.

Addressing a press conference at Santhapeta on Thursday, Nellore Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) P. Sindhu Priya said, “After getting addicted to drugs, Ranjit Nayak started buying ganja at ₹5,000 per kg from a supplier in Odisha and he was selling the same to other four accused at ₹20,000 per kg in Nellore.”

“The other accused were then selling the ganja, packed in 50,000 small packets, at ₹300 each. On receiving information about ganja peddling, Santhapeta Circle Inspector (CI) G. Dasaratha Rama Rao and his team caught the accussed and seized 5 kg of ganja from them. They were later arrested,” she added.
