Emotions engulfed thousands of participants, and the agony and anger were visible at the candlelight march on Necklace Road as Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy urged the Indian government to divide Pakistan into two parts with one blow and integrate Pakistan-occupied Kashmir into India.
Mr. Reddy said Prime Minister Narendra Modi must take former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi as an example and act tough against Pakistan, and asserrted that the entire country is with him. “Prime Minister Modi, as a devotee of Goddess Durga, take Indira Gandhi as an example. You should give a strong response to the terrorists,” he urged speaking at the candlelight march.
He recollected how former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee likened Ms. Gandhi to Goddess Durga for dividing Pakistan into East as Pakistan and West as Bangladesh — in response to the attacks in 1967 and the Indo-Pakistani war in 1971. This is the time to follow the path shown by Indira Gandhi and teach Pakistan a lesson, Mr. Reddy said.

Thousands of people joined the march, including Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka, Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi, and former Union minister Salman Khurshid and the Telangana Cabinet to pay homage to the Pahalgam victims. Slogans were raised against Pakistan asking it to stay away from sponsoring terrorism and India to hit back.
The Chief Minister, while condemning the brutal attack by terrorists on Indian tourists in Pahalgam, said there was a need to fight terrorism beyond politics, and the Indian government should act sternly to prevent such attacks from recurring. Mr. Reddy did not mince words to say that every step taken by the Indian government against terrorism will be supported and urged that everyone should stand united to end terrorism and for the sovereignty of the country.
On behalf of the Telangana government, he expressed condolences to the bereaved families in the Pahalgam attack and urged all citizens to stand by the families and offer them support.
