Vijayawada court grants 3-day police custody of PSR Anjaneyulu

Vijayawada: A Vijayawada court on Thursday granted three-day police custody of senior IPS officer and former director general of intelligence, PSR Anjaneyulu, in connection with a high-profile criminal conspiracy case. This case involves the harassment and wrongful confinement of a Mumbai-based actress and her family.
The crime investigation department (CID) filed a petition seeking seven-day custody to question Anjaneyulu regarding his alleged role in orchestrating a false criminal case against the actress. After hearing arguments from both sides, the III additional chief judicial magistrate granted custody from Sunday to Tuesday, April 27–29, between 10 am and 5 pm each day. The court directed that the interrogation be conducted in the presence of lawyers.
Anjaneyulu was arrested earlier this week after CID unearthed a conspiracy led by YSRCP leader Kukkala Vidya Sagar (A-1), who allegedly sought revenge after the actress rejected his marriage proposal. Investigations revealed that Vidya Sagar, with the help of Anjaneyulu and other senior officers, fabricated a land sale agreement, planted evidence, and falsely implicated the woman and her family in a forgery case. They were arrested in Mumbai on February 3, 2024, and illegally detained for 42 days.
Anjaneyulu is currently lodged in Vijayawada district jail. CID charged him under multiple IPC sections, including forgery, wrongful confinement, conspiracy, and abuse of official power.
