Ganguly Urges BCCI to Sever Cricket Ties with Pakistan Following Pahalgam Attack

Hyderabad: Former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly has strongly advocated for the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to cease all cricketing relations with Pakistan in the wake of the recent attack on tourists in Pahalgam.

India has not toured Pakistan since 2008, and the last bilateral series hosted by India was in 2012-13. Since then, the two nations have only competed in multilateral tournaments held at neutral venues.

Following the Pahalgam attack, calls to halt cricket matches with Pakistan have grown louder, a sentiment echoed by Ganguly. “We should snap ties with Pakistan. It must happen. We should take stern action,” he asserted. “Every year these kinds of incidents are taking place. We should not tolerate terrorism.”

Ganguly emphasised the need for a decisive stance, urging the BCCI to heed the growing demand to end cricketing engagements.

Notably, with the exception of Danish Kaneria, no other Pakistani cricketer has commented on the attack on tourists in Pahalgam. This silence has further fuelled the demand for India to sever sporting ties.
