Kurnool: Doctors at the Government General Hospital (GGH), Kurnool, successfully removed a four-kg tumour from a woman’s chest under the NTR Vaidya Seva scheme.
Dasari Baby, 40, a sweeper from Jonnagiri mandal, had been suffering from severe coughing and breathlessness. Tests revealed a massive tumour occupying the left side of her chest, shifting her heart to the right and compressing major blood vessels and the trachea.
The surgery was performed free of cost under NTR Vaidya Seva. On April 22, the medical team, led by cardiac surgeon Dr Chinta Prabhakar Reddy, completed the high-risk procedure successfully.
Though her initial recovery was challenging, Dasari Baby has now stabilised and is ready for discharge. Dr Reddy noted that GGH Kurnool performs around 15 major bypass surgeries each month under the scheme, ensuring critical care for the underprivileged.
