One UI 7 only started rolling out a couple of weeks ago but the attention has already moved on to One UI 8, the next major update that’s also going to bring Android 16. We’ve already tested One UI 8 on the Galaxy S25 and the Galaxy Z Flip 6.
The initial builds haven’t revealed any major changes but that could change as the development work continues. An interesting finding has been spotted, though, which is that Samsung Internet will see its design being overhauled with One UI 8.
One UI 8 release expected in the second half of this year
A change that immediately stands out is that the browser’s plain black screen has been replaced with a background image. It will be customizable so you can have any image there that you’d like.
The overall user interface feels cleaner as there’s more spacing around various UI elements so it doesn’t feel too cluttered. A carousel that shows recently visited websites, including from devices liked to the same Samsung Account, is visible as well.
A pop-up menu has been added as well which appears upon tapping the three line icon. It displays a row of circular buttons and an icon grid, providing easy access to most used features. The icons take on the device theme’s color palette to ensure uniformity.
There could be more changes as One UI 8 builds are still in early stages, so it would be interesting to see how things progress from here. So far, it appears to be a rather promising change that Samsung is making to its web browser.
While the wait for One UI 7 has been agonizingly long, it won’t be that way for its successor. We’ve exclusively reported that the Galaxy Z Flip 7 and Z Fold 7 will launch with One UI 8, likely around July or August this year. Other One UI 8 eligible devices will get the update soon after that.
