Sri Rama Navami festival was observed with religious fervour at various temples in Tirupati and Nellore districts on Sunday. The day also marked the launch of the annual Brahmotsavam at several temples.
The Sri Kodandarama Swamy temple in Chandragiri of Tirupati district, which was taken over by the TTD a few years back, observed ‘Dhwajarohanam’ ceremony marking the launch of its Brahmotsavam.
Kankanabhattar Srinivasa Bhattar conducted the rituals. Deputy Executive Officer Devendra Babu and other officials took part.
In Nellore, former Vice-President M. Venkaiah Naidu offered prayers at Sri Rama temple in his native village Choutapalem, along with his grandson M. Vishnu Babu. He called upon the public to follow the ideals of Lord Rama to ensure a pious and spiritually rewarding life.
Similarly, he called Ramayana as not just an epic, but a treasure trove of wisdom meant to eradicate the social evils. “The Rama Rajya is not just a utopian idea, but an egalitarian society that is free of discrimination”, Mr. Naidu observed.
Nellore Rural MLA Kotamreddy Sridhar Reddy, accompanied by his spouse Kotamreddy Sujitha, offered silk Vastram and ‘Muthyala Thalambralu’ to Sabari Srirama Kshetram temple, where the Sita Rama Kalyanam was performed. He also participated in the special prayers along with his brother Kotamreddy Giridhar Reddy.
