USA TODAY Sports’ Mackenzie Salmon breaks down the biggest storylines from Round 1 of the 2025 NFL Draft.

The final day of the 2025 NFL Draft is set. Who will walk away with Day 3 steals?
With this year’s draft class dealing with wild variation when it comes to talent evaluation, Day 3 is as much if not more unpredictable than years past. That, of course, is headlined by Shedeur Sanders’ slide down the draft order.
The Colorado passer has yet to be taken as Day 3 gets underway. He was widely anticipated to be a late-first or early-second-round selection, so his fall has sent shockwaves through the NFL ecosystem as many wonder why Sanders hasn’t yet been drafted.
Sanders isn’t the only talented players still on the board entering the 2025 NFL Draft’s final day. He is joined by a handful of quarterbacks who led their teams on deep College Football Playoff runs – Ohio State’s Will Howard, Texas’ Quinn Ewers and Notre Dame’s Riley Leonard.
Talented running backs Cam Skattebo, Dylan Sampson and Bhayshul Tuten also remain on the board while talented defenders like Kyle Kennard, Danny Stutsman and Jack Sawyer are yet to be selected. As such, there will still be plenty of impact players who come off the board over the final 155 picks of the 2025 NFL Draft.
