Councillors from Vijayawada Corporation visit Madurai, interact with Mayor, officials

Vijayawada councillors at Madurai Corporation on Saturday.

A delegation comprising councillors led by Deputy Mayor A. Sailaja Reddy from Vijayawada Corporation visited Madurai on Saturday.

It went around the famous temples, including Meenakshi Sundareswarar Temple and Subramanian Swamy Temple in Tirupparankundram. The delegation visited ongoing projects at Periyar bus stand.

The members were received at Madurai Corporation by Mayor Indrani Pon Vasanth, Commissioner Chitra Vijayan, senior officers and councillors/ zone chairpersons.

The officials briefed them about the Mullaperiyar river drinking water project, ‘wealth’ being produced from waste, solid waste management disposal and others.

The delegation explained the functioning of their city and the challenges being faced by them in an ever-growing urbanisation.
