Jammu Kashmir Pahalgam Terror Attack News Live Updates: Upon directions of the Union Home Ministry, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) has taken over the investigation of the Pahalgam terror attack that killed 26 people. A fresh FIR has been registered in the case which was earlier being probed by the Jammu and Kashmir Police. Before taking over, the agency on Wednesday also recreated the crime scene of the attack with the help of eyewitnesses and recorded their statements.

Pakistan troops open ‘unprovoked fire’: As tensions remain rife amid diplomatic fallout in the aftermath of the Pahalgam attack, Pakistani military troops resorted to ‘unprovoked firing’ along the Line of Control (LoC) on the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday, news agency PTI reported. Indian Army soldiers “responded effectively with appropriate small arms fire,” officials said on Sunday. This violation of the ceasefire agreement for the third consecutive night took place in areas opposite the Tutmari Gali and the Rampur sectors. No casualties have been reported so far.

India’s plan of ‘retaliation’: India is now considering “retaliatory” military options, following a series of diplomatic moves against Pakistan in aftermath of the Pahalgam attack that killed 26 people. “There will be military retaliation and we are prepared. We are discussing the nature of the strike… We have the option of targeting the terrorists from within our territory,” a top government source in the know told The Indian Express.
