Hyderabad: A tanker caught fire at Hayathnagar ORR on Saturday around 7 am due to a suspected short circuit near the engine. However, the driver and cleaner managed to escape without sustaining any injuries.
The tanker was travelling from Pharma City towards Ghatkesar when the driver noticed flames coming out of the engine. The duo jumped out of the vehicle in a bid to save their lives. A fire tender was rushed to the spot from Hayathnagar fire station.
“They fixed a regular cylinder near the engine. It exploded after wires under the engine caught fire due to a suspected short circuit and the fire escalated,” said a fire personnel from Hayathnagar fire station.
The front side of the vehicle was completely gutted in the incident.
