The Andhra Pradesh CM Chandrababu Naidu said his government will seek legality of Amaravati as the capital of AP. He said they will check the details of AP Reorganisation Act and get the Parliament to notify Amaravati as the state capital.

Babu was addressing Amaravati farmers and he promised that he will take up the issue with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He said the timeline for Hyderabad being the common capital of two Telugu states was over.

Chandrababu said there might be no hurdles in notifying Amaravati as AP’s capital. The CM met up with Amaravati farmers and women at his house in Undavalli. CM invited the farmers and their families to attend the programme for restarting Amaravati works.

The farmers requested Babu to ensure Amaravati becomes the sole capital of AP to avoid any problems in future. The farmers expressed confidence that Modi will listen to Babu as they are partners in the alliance.

Babu told them that it was not a subject in their domain. We cannot demand, but get it with mutual talks, said Babu. He said May 2 will be a milestone in the development of the capital. He told the farmers that their sacrifices will be remembered by people for years to come.

The CM also clarified various doubts of farmers during the meeting. He said he was building a house in Amaravati to instill confidence among Amaravati farmers.

When the farmers brought up the subject of additional lands being acquired in neighbouring villages, Babu said it was necessary for international airport and cricket stadium. The acquisition will shoot up land prices, Chandrababu assured, saying that when excess land was acquired for RGIA in Hyderabad, it helped the realty around Shamshabad.

Chandrababu said nothing will be done to harm the interests of farmers. He said another 3-4 bridges on Krishna river, inner, outer ring roads will come up soon. When the farmers asked for a memorial for the farmers who died for Amaravati, Babu said a museum will be built showcasing the journey from Satavahanas to farmers’ fight.
