Warangal: The historic Sri Bhadrakali Temple witnessed the ceremonial Ankurarpanam on Tuesday, marking the beginning of the Sri Bhadrakali-Bhadreshwara Kalyana Brahmotsavams in Hanamkonda. The festivity started on Tuesday and will continue until May 10.
The celebrations commenced with Nithya Manickam followed by Utsavangikara Prarthana. After divine consent, temple priests conducted a series of traditional rituals including Ganapati Puja, Punyahavachanam, Nandi, Brahma Kurcha Homam, Panchagavya Prashanam, Ritvigvaranam, Vastu Yagam, Mrutsangrahanam, Dhvajadhivasam and Sri Subrahmanya Seva.
The Brahmotsavams were formally inaugurated by Kakatiya Urban Development Authority (KUDA) chairman Enagala Venkatram Reddy. The day’s proceedings concluded with Raksoghna Homam and Udasanta Puja.
Hundreds of devotees thronged the temple, offering silk sarees and other traditional items to the Goddess, accompanied by devotional music. Many praised engineering student Gandrathi Varsha for beautifully designing the Dhvaja Patam (festival flag).
Head priest Sri Bhadrakali Seshu explained that those participating in the Dhvajarohanam ritual would be relieved of physical and mental ailments. The prasadam distributed during the event is believed to help couples struggling with infertility.
Temple EO and assistant commissioner Seshu Bharathi made elaborate arrangements for the devotees, including temporary sheds, drinking water and free prasadam distribution.
