The 2025 college football season features some intriguing storylines during the offseason. A major focus is on what Deion Sanders and the Colorado team will do without his son, quarterback Shedeur Sanders. Additionally, Bill Belichick has been hired as North Carolina’s head coach, which marks his first venture into college coaching.
Belichick, an eight-time Super Bowl champion, twice as an assistant and six times as a head coach, is making headlines for more than just his new position. In an interview with “CBS Sunday Morning,” he discussed his life, his new book and, of course, football.
One notable moment in the interview involved Belichick’s 24-year-old girlfriend, Jordon Hudson, who was present in the room. The interviewer, Tony Dokoupil, noted that she was a “constant presence” throughout the conversation. However, when Belichick was asked how he and Hudson met, the situation took a turn. Hudson promptly interjected, saying, “We’re not talking about this.”
On “The Paul Finebaum Show,” SEC Network analyst Paul Finebaum expressed his discomfort during the awkward interview. He mentioned that he cringed while watching it and now believes that things are moving toward a disaster at North Carolina.
“I was one who thought it was a great idea that the University of North Carolina hired Belichick,” Finebaum said. “It was the story of the year in college football. I am now thinking it is headed toward a cliff.”
Finebaum expressed that he doesn’t care about Belichick’s private life but is concerned about his public image. He also expressed sympathy for Belichick, suggesting that he has been diminished and embarrassed, made a figure of ridicule in the realm of college football due to his girlfriend. He believes it will be difficult for Belichick to recover from this awkward interview.
Additionally, Finebaum stated that sources in Chapel Hill told him that Belichick is “completely and totally clueless” about college football. In conclusion, Finebaum expressed uncertainty about whether the situation will lead to anything other than a disaster.
