Hyderabad: The Telangana High Court has prevented a couple from meeting their 27-year-old pregnant daughter, after levelling allegations against her husband. The woman is in the eighth month of her pregnancy and is anaemic and suffering from varicose veins, and has a two-year-old child who has her own issues.
Coming to the rescue of the weakened women and her child, the court directed the government’s women and child welfare department to take their custody, admit them in the Gandhi Hospital and ensure that necessary treatment and care are provided to them. The court directed the police to provide protection to the woman and her child during the course of treatment.
Justice T. Vinod Kumar gave the directions while dealing with a petition filed by the woman’s parents, alleging that their daughter was being harassed physically by her husband. Because of this, the woman was confined to her house and could not move outside, the parents claimed. Taking a serious view, the court sent the secretary of the High Court Legal Services Authority to visit the house of the daughter, hold an inquiry and file a report.
Upon perusal of the inquiry report and medical reports, the court learnt of the condition of the woman and her child who was suffering from a growth issue for more than nine months. It was further revealed that the parents of the woman are inimical to the marriage of their daughter.
Considering these facts, court directed the women and child development to have the woman and child in admitted in the Gandhi Hospital for medical care. The court directed the police to ensure that only her husband and no one else met the woman and the child during their stay at the hospital.
