Hyderabad:The Telangana High Court has directed the state government and electricity utility companies like Transco, Genco and the two discoms to not effect promotions to employees till further orders. Justice Namavarapu Rajeshwar Rao passed the orders on a petition filed by the Telangana Electricity Backward Classes Employees Welfare Association and Telangana Electricity BC and OC Employees Association, complaining about violations in reviewing the promotions and seniority to the employees belonging to SC and ST communities.
They submitted that the Supreme Court had laid down the law in ‘M. Nagaraj Vs Union of India’ and ‘Jarnail Singh Vs Lachhmi Narain Gupta’ on reviewing the seniority of employees and their promotions. The power utilities were not following the law, they said.
