India’s four major carmakers – Tata, Kia, MG and Volkswagen – are set to make headlines with their upcoming new product launches in May 2025. Tata has planned to roll out the updated Altroz hatchback, while Kia is set to launch the updated premium version of the Carens MPV. Meanwhile, MG is ready to introduce the long-range variant of the Windsor EV, and Volkswagen will fire up the hot-hatch segment with the Golf GTI. Updated Kia Carens

The 2025 Kia Carens will go on sale with its official price announcement on 8th May. The MPV will receive premium upgrades along with a new suffix after the ‘Carens’ name. It will be retailed alongside the existing Carens. The interior of the new Carens will witness significant feature upgrades including the Level 2 ADAS, a 360 degree camera, an updated fully digital instrument cluster, a larger touchscreen infotainment system, and a panoramic sunroof. The updated Kia Carens will continue to come with existing three 1.5L engines – 115bhp petrol, 160bhp turbo petrol and 116bhp turbo diesel.

MG Windsor EV Long-Range

JSW MG Motor India will introduce the updated Windsor EV with a new 50.6kWh battery pack in early weeks of May 2025. However, its official launch date is yet to be announced. The 2025 MG Windsor EV Long-Range version will promise a range of 460km on the CLTC cycle. The new larger battery pack, an electric motor and FWD (front-wheel drive) configuration will return a maximum power of 136bhp and 200Nm of torque. The updated Windsor EV is likely to come with the ADAS (advanced driver assistance system).
Updated Tata Altroz

The 2025 Tata Altroz facelift is slated to hit roads in May. The hatchback is likely to receive subtle changes inside and out. Spy images reveal that the updated Altroz will feature a slightly revised front bumper, a vertical crease below the fog lamp clusters and LED elements in the taillamps and indicators. The updated Altroz might also get a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment unit along with new upholstery and door trim. Under the hood, the new Altroz will continue to feature the same engine options – an 88bhp, 1.2L petrol, a 90bhp, 1.5L diesel and a 120bhp, 1.2L diesel engine options.
Volkswagen Golf GTI

Only 250 Volkswagen Golf GTI will be brought to India as CBU units in May, 2025. This performance hatchback derives power from a 2.0L turbo petrol engine paired to a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. The motor produces a maximum power of 265bhp and 370Nm of torque. It’s claimed to do 0 to 100kmph in 5.9 seconds and offer a maximum speed of 250kmph. Inside, the Vw golf gti has tartan seat upholstery, steering wheel with red accents and a GTI badge, a fully digital instrument cluster with GTI-specific graphics and a 12.9-inch infotainment system running on Volkswagen’s latest software interface and a ChatGPT-enabled voice assistant.
