Bayern Munich are ready to battle Chelsea and other European heavyweights for the signing of Bournemouth defender Dean Huijsen, according to Florian Plettenberg.

The Bavarians are looking to strengthen their backline in the summer transfer window, with Eric Dier set to join AS Monaco.

Kim Min-jae’s future is also up in the air, and Bayern are looking to reinvest the proceeds from his potential sale in a top-quality centre-back.

Bayern have identified Huijsen as a top target, with the Cherries youngster available for €50 million this summer.

Chelsea are reportedly leading the race for the 20-year-old, who has enjoyed a significant rise to prominence this season.

Huijsen’s impactful performances have been key behind the Cherries punching above their weight.

He also made his debut with the Spanish national team last month, making an instant impact by helping Luis de la Fuente’s side reach the UEFA Nations League semi-finals.

Considered one of the finest young defenders in Europe at the moment, Real Madrid, Newcastle United and Liverpool are also behind Huijsen’s trail.

Chelsea have also shortlisted Bayern’s Kim as a potential defensive target for the summer.

The German giants are also looking at the possibility of securing Jonathan Tah’s services on a free transfer.

The German centre-back has confirmed that he will leave Bayer Leverkusen at the end of the season, igniting a transfer battle between the top clubs.

Barcelona have been tracking Tah for a while, but the negotiations have hit an impasse.

Real Madrid are also eyeing Tah as a potential option to bolster their defence. Xabi Alonso has earmarked him as a preferred target if he leaves Leverkusen to become Madrid’s new head coach.

Bayern are also actively working on a deal to sign Leverkusen superstar Florian Wirtz, with whom they have reached a verbal agreement.
