While recent Galaxy phones and tablets come preloaded with the Gemini AI assistant, you can install several third-party AI apps, including Anthropic’s Claude, OpenAI’s ChatGPT, Microsoft’s Copilot, and Perplexity. Starting today, you can install one more AI voice assistant on your Galaxy phone or tablet: Meta AI.

Meta’s AI assistant now has a dedicated app for Android and iOS devices. You can also access it via the web.

Meta, which owns Facebook, Instagram, (Facebook) Messenger, Threads, and WhatsApp, announced the launch of the dedicated Meta AI app yesterday. During the announcement, the app was only available for iPhones. However, it is now available for Android as well, and you can now download it via the Google Play Store on your Galaxy smartphone or tablet.

When Meta AI was launched, it was available inside Instagram, Messenger, and WhatsApp. You could invoke it inside your chats to discuss things or research with your family members and friends or interact with it alone. Now, you use the Meta AI app if you don’t want its help with chats.

Meta says that Meta AI is now powered by the Llama 4 AI model. It is more personal than previous-generation models and has a conversational and voice-first design. The company said Meta AI now remembers previous conversations, context, and the user’s preferences to offer a more personalized experience. However, this feature is currently avaialble only in Canada and the USA.

Just like Gemini Live, Meta AI offers a way where you can speak to the assistant continuously. You can use that mode by enabling the Full-Duplex Mode toggle inside the app. However, it is in experimental phase right now, so you might experience some difficulties while using it. Moreover, it is only available in Australia, Canada, New Zealand, and the USA right now.

As you use Meta AI, it keeps on improving it, as it learns things about you and understands what things you like and don’t like. It can remember your hobbies, travel interests, and the information you share via your Facebook and Instagram accounts. It remembers your past interactions, content that you liked on Meta’s social media platforms, and draws information from user profiles.

Meta AI can also generate images or modify existing images via your text or voice prompts. It has a Discover feed where you can view AI prompts shared by others and remix it with yours. You can post your own AI prompts as well.

In countries where Ray-Ban Meta AI Glasses are available, users can switch between the AI glasses and Meta’s apps seamlessly and pick up where they left off on the glasses. However, picking up from the app or the web is currently not supported.

It also features an upgraded image generation model with controls for color, lighting, mood, and style. It even includes a document editor for generating text and images. It can export documents in the PDF format and can analyze documents that you upload.

You can use it on your Galaxy Book or Galaxy Chromebook laptops and Galaxy tablets via the web browser.
