The Baltimore Ravens landed a stud in the 2022 NFL draft when they selected standout safety Kyle Hamilton with their No. 14 overall pick.
Now one of the league’s best defensive players, Hamilton is heading into his fourth season with the Ravens — making him eligible for a long-term contract extension.
On Wednesday, Baltimore general manager Eric DeCosta announced the franchise’s decision to exercise Hamilton’s fifth-year option. The team ultimately intends to come to terms on a long-term contract with their young defensive star.
“We are exercising the fifth-year option for Kyle Hamilton, with the goal of working toward a multi-year contract extension,” DeCosta said in a statement.
Hamilton is set to earn $2.92 million in base salary with a $5.17 million salary cap hit this coming season. His fifth-year option would see him earn $18.6 million in 2026.
Hamilton, 24, notched his second consecutive Pro-Bowl selection this past season. Through his three seasons with the Ravens franchise, the former Notre Dame safety has recorded 250 tackles, 7.0 sacks, four forced fumbles, 27 passes defended and five interceptions.
Ravens coach John Harbaugh is looking forward to utilizing Hamilton as a defensive weapon again in 2025.
“The more you can do, you move guys around. You always try to have players do primarily as much as possible what they do well and minimize the things they don’t do quite as well,” Harbuagh said earlier this year. “So, when you have a player like Kyle Hamilton, who does so many things so well, you want to get him in position to do all of those things.”
