My Mahindra XUV 700 turns 3; 11,000km update

Icarus (My Mahindra XUV 700) turned 3 on 25th April, 2025. A big achievement in itself because after a long time, a car has stayed with me for this long!

BHPian RavenAvi recently shared this with other enthusiasts:

Be as it may, with my extremely limited running, threatening diesel PV rules looming around and tons of Regen exercises notwithstanding, I have simply come to appreciate the presence of the big M in my life. Software gremlins aside, Icarus has given me no cause for complaints so far. Regens are wholly my fault because of my 100% in-city running for the past 4.5-odd months due to a variety of reasons. Except for that, the XUV700 hits it out of the park in every other aspect – road presence, in-cabin space, engine response, comfort & gizmos – specially in the pricing segment it is in. Every other option available today is a downgrade to the C-segment, and none of them appeal to me.

Maybe a stricter law/rule of the land when passed for big, burly diesel PVs will make me go back to the new car ownership drawing board yet again but for now, I am extremely happy with my steed and what it provides to me and my family on a daily basis.

The latest.

Took 7 minutes.

It was time for insurance renewal. Ditched the original 1+3 TATA AIG package bought at the time of delivery and went with Chola MS this time for 2 reasons – local A.S.C. service has it readily available (other is Iffco Tokio) and the head of the local Chola branch is a good friend of mine. Negotiated on both sides and finalised:-

Idv = 13,00,000
Basic = 10,865
Addons = 7,900 (Zero Dep, RTI, Consumables, Chola Value Added Services, New Vehicle Replacement Cover)
3rd Party = 9,422
NCB @ 35% = (-) 3,803
Total = 24,384
GST = (+) 4,390
Grand Total = 28,774

4th Paid Service @ 10,835 kms:-

I am busy with comprehensive renovation work of my house, so sent Icarus via pickup-and-drop service on 19th April 2025. Listed these jobs to be done:-

1) Software to be updated to the latest stable version (on 10.27.62 right now)
2) AC & Air filters to be changed
3) Wipers to be changed
4) Paint touchup on small paint chips on driver door & front passenger side front wheel panel (just behind left headlamp)
5) Battery check, brakes check, underbody check.
6) Exterior washing only.
7) Paid service work – engine oil & oil filter change.
8) No additional work.

Icarus came back in the evening at around 7 PM with most of the jobs completed. Software flashing couldn’t be done due to some issues with downloading the latest version. The paint touchup job was also left pending.

Final paid service bill came to 9,229.90. Paid online.

I was busy with renovation work for the next two days. Last Tuesday, I jumped into my 7OO to leave for office and noticed this:-

The central-left AC vent’s adjuster was broken!

A bit of a shocker, because this was my SUV’s first casualty. I immediately rang up the dealership and reported this (with pics) to the Service Manager, the CoTek & the Advisor handling my car. They were apologetic and assured me of ordering the part (the whole panel) and replacing the same as soon as possible. As of today, the order has been placed.

I have also noticed that the nitrogen in the left rear tyre (driver side rear) has been steadily decreasing. Today morning, it had dropped to 22PSI! A check at the nearest puncture shop confirmed this. Only one shop in my city repairs punctured tyres equipped with TPMS sensors and I am visiting them tomorrow.

Icarus is nearing the 11,000 kms mark now.

Consider this – fellow BHPian abirnale has crossed 1,00,000 kms on the ODO of his Red Sparkle in a little more ownership time than my XUV. Compared to that – in gross terms of years, weeks & days of ownership and in proportion to Icarus’s total running, my XUV7OO is still a baby!

Ciao for now.
