Vijayawada: With the works of capital city Amaravati all set to start after the relaunch by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA) is now focusing on finalising the internal designs of the iconic structures.
Chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu and municipal administration and urban development minister P Narayana held separate meetings with architects of the iconic structures on Saturday. While Foster and Partners designed the assembly and high court buildings, Hafeez Contractor provided designs for the secretariat towers.
Although APCRDA finalised the outer designs of the iconic structures long back, the interior designs and planning are yet to be completed. Narayana held preliminary talks with representatives of Foster and Partners, Hafeez Contractor, and L&T to discuss the interior design plans for each building.
According to sources, the architects presented their plans for each building. For the secretariat towers, the plans include the number of rooms to be built in each tower, designs for rooms, ventilation, safety measures, and lighting patterns. For the high court building, the number of courtrooms required, interior designs to reflect Andhra Pradesh’s heritage and culture, and other infrastructure required for the administrative functions of the high court were discussed.
The assembly building features a 200m-long spire on top, which will be the major attraction. The proposal is to allow visitors and tourists up to a certain height of the spire to have a bird’s eye view of the entire capital city. The interior designs of the assembly building and the spire are also being planned as unique models. As people will be allowed to go on top of the spire, extensive safety measures are being planned during the design stages itself.
