Trio held for stalking couples outside pub

Hyderabad: Three men have been arrested for allegedly stalking and harassing three couples outside a pub at Begumpet. The accused also assaulted one of the victims near SR Nagar Metro station in the early hours of Friday when he went out to drop a friend. The Madhura Nagar police arrested the trio, on complaint of victim’s wife.
On May 1 night, according to police, two couples from Ongole, D Sravanthi, her husband, D Naga Sai, Sravanthi’s sister, Malleshwari, and her husband Venkatesh, along with their friends, Sridevi and Aravind from Hyderabad, went to Club 8 at Begumpet. Around 11:40pm, when they came out of the club, the accused — Sampath, 28, Sandeep, 28, of Panjagutta, and Umesh, 27, of Kukatpally — allegedly made inappropriate advances and passed lewd comments at the women.

The situation escalated when a suspect, Sampath, blocked their path and made derogatory remarks despite being asked to move aside. When confronted, the suspects allegedly made vulgar comments and followed the group on motorcycles.
“We ignored them and reached our friend’s home at Rehmat Nagar. Later, at around 1:40am, the suspects, along with their accomplices, intercepted my husband, Naga Sai, and his friend Aravind near SR Nagar Metro Station when Sai went out to drop Aravind home. They assaulted Sai and took his phone and motorcycle,” Sravanthi said in complaint.
Before his phone was snatched, Sai alerted his wife, and she called police. The Madhura Nagar police reached the spot and arrested the trio. A case was registered against them.
