Hyderabad: Two sisters lost their lives in a road accident in Nizamabad district on Friday while they were returning to their hamlet in Nirmal after appearing for an entrance exam in Hyderabad.
The victims were identified as Banavath Ashwini, 19, and Banavath Manjula, 17, daughters of Dubai-based worker Banavath Reddy, a native of Lothorya Thanda in Nirmal district.
The incident occurred around 3:15 pm on Friday near Maitri Garden function hall on the outskirts of Argul village along NH44 in Nizamabad district. The vehicle, driven by Jadhav Hamsaraj, crashed into a roadside culvert. “The sisters sustained grievous injuries and we rushed them to the govt hospital in Armoor, where they were declared brought dead at 3:40 pm,” Jakranpally sub-inspector Md Malik Rehman said.
Alerted by the police, the victims’ family members rushed to the Armoor govt hospital on Friday. In her complaint to the police, the victims’ mother, Banavath Suguna, stated that Ashwini was pursuing her second year of graduation in Ichoda, while Manjula completed intermediate.
Suguna said that Manjula went to appear for the TG-EAPCET entrance exam, and Ashwini accompanied her. The sisters went in their neighbour Jadhav Hamsaraj’s car early on Friday. While they were returning home on Friday afternoon, the mishap occurred. Hamsaraj also sustained injuries, and he is undergoing treatment at the govt hospital in Armoor. Police said that his condition is stable.
On Suguna’s complaint, the Jakranpally police registered a case against Jadhav Hamsaraj under Section 106 (causing death due to negligence) of the BNS.
