The post was quick to go viral, leaving people reacting in all kinds of ways. Most agreed with the man, while some sympathised with him. Times Now could not confirm the authenticity of the post.
“US Return Struggling to Adapt to Indian Life,” a user said.
“I am a US return who lived for 10 years in America; earned a masters degree and worked for 8 years (2 on OPT, 6 on H-1B) for Fortune 500 companies in a large American city. I was laid off from my Tech job in 2024 as part of a company wide restructuring. Unfortunately, this happened at the end of the 6 year period of my H-1B visa. My company also revoked my green card application as part of the layoff. About 300 other employees were laid off along with me,” the post read.
“I moved back to India in January 2024 and was excited to live in India after a decade of living outside the country. I’ve been unable to get used to life in India and it’s been 1 year since I moved back here. I’ve lived in Delhi, Mumbai and Hyderabad during this time and here are some things I’ve observed,” the post continued.

“I just told a woman on the bus to not throw trash on people’s heads. She fed her kid from a parcel and washed and threw trash out of the window. When I asked not to do that she and her friend teamed up and started scolding me. She told me that I have no right to tell her as she’s educated. It didn’t really make any sense. Her education definitely failed,” a user said.
“The comments attacking OP are the reason India will never develop,” added a second. “I know how you feel brother. I returned in 2023 after living in the US for 15+ years and even left my GC status ( personal reasons & FIRE). I have however adjusted and hope you do as well,” commented a third.
“The fact that the best advice we can give is that you’ll get used to it is just sad. Sorry dude,” added a fourth.
