Principal Secretary, Food and Civil Supplies Department, D.S. Chauhan underscored the need for close monitoring of paddy harvesters to ensure a streamlined inflow of produce. He directed officials to effectively utilise weather forecast data provided by the Head Office for each PPC to plan procurement activities efficiently and avoid disruptions due to inclement weather.
Mr. Chauan visited various Paddy Procurement Centres (PPCs) in Hanamkonda district on Saturday to review the ongoing procurement operations. He inspected PPCs run by Primary Agriculture Cooperative Societies (PACS) in Unikicherla, Dharmasagar and Telkulagudem, and an IKP centre in Dharmasagar.
The Principal Secretary interacted with officials and farmers to review the efficacy of the procurement process. He stressed the importance of deploying paddy cleaners at all centres to enhance the quality. He instructed the staff to expedite tab entries and ensure prompt payments to farmers to avoid delays in transporting the produce to rice mills.
He reiterated the government’s commitment to a farmer-friendly procurement process and directed officials to ensure that no farmer faces any inconvenience during the entire process.
