Hyderabad is set to host another prestigious international event, as the Miss World 2025 competition is scheduled to take place at the historic Chowmohalla Palace (also known as Khilwat Palace) from May 10 to May 31. In preparation for the event, local police have significantly tightened security measures across key parts of the city.
As part of these arrangements, South Zone police have ordered the temporary closure of shops and commercial complexes in and around Charminar and several areas of the Old City. The directive comes with the intent to ensure the safety of foreign delegates and visitors attending the event. Authorities have also begun removing all types of makeshift and street vendor stalls surrounding the Charminar.
Two days prior, police officials held a meeting with local petty traders, requesting them to voluntarily shut their businesses until the conclusion of the pageant. In response, shopkeepers in the vicinity of Charminar closed their establishments today. Police have also intensified patrolling across various other neighborhoods in the Old City as part of the overall security strategy.
Local traders have expressed concern over financial losses due to the temporary shutdown but acknowledged that they have no option but to comply with police orders in the interest of public safety.
Meanwhile, security preparations are being given special attention to accommodate international guests who are expected to visit Hyderabad’s popular tourist attractions during their stay. Hyderabad Police Commissioner C.V. Anand has issued specific directives under Section 163 of the BNS 2023, prohibiting the operation of remote-controlled drones, paragliders, or remote-controlled microlight aircraft in several areas of the city.
Contestants from various countries, including former Miss World titleholders, have already begun arriving in Hyderabad for the Miss World 2025 competition. Police have completed all necessary security arrangements around Charminar and Chowmohalla Palace to ensure their safety.
