Hyderabad City Police Commissioner C.V. Anand and the Hyderabad Narcotics Enforcement Wing (H-NEW) have been awarded first place in the ‘Excellence in Anti-Narcotics Award’ category at the World Police Summit (WPS) 2025.
Organised by Dubai Police, the summit will take place from May 13 to 15, and the award will be presented during a formal ceremony at the Dubai Police Officers Club on the final day.
The World Police Summit brings together law enforcement agencies from over 138 countries, including elite forces such as the Federal Bureau of Investigation, New York City Police Department, Los Angeles Police Department, Metropolitan Police, Australian Federal Police and the German Police. The summit fosters strategic dialogue, collaboration and the exchange of best practices to address challenges in modern policing.
Entries from police units across continents underwent a rigorous two-stage evaluation process led by an expert jury and Dubai police. Entries were assessed on parameters including reduction in drug supply, decline in substance use, community engagement and inter-agency collaboration.
H-NEW’s success stems from a multi-pronged model that includes coordination with national and State-level agencies such as the Enforcement Directorate, Narcotics Control Bureau, Directorate of Revenue Intelligence, GST, Excise, Counter Intelligence, Drugs Control Administration, and Foreigners Regional Registration Office, widespread community outreach, aggressive enforcement against international and interstate drug networks, dark web interventions, deportation of foreign offenders and parallel focus on rehabilitation.
The official will receive the award in Dubai.
