Hyderabad to Host Mock Drills in Four Key..

In light of the current national security environment, mock security drills will be conducted across four strategic locations in Hyderabad on Wednesday, as per the directives issued by the central government. These exercises are being organized in response to the recent escalation of tensions between India and Pakistan following a terrorist attack on tourists in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir.

According to a statement issued by senior officials from the Ministry of Defence, the mock drills will be held simultaneously at 4 PM in the following areas of Hyderabad: Secunderabad Cantonment, Golconda, the DRDO campus in Kanchanbagh, and NFC premises in Moula Ali. These locations have been identified as strategically sensitive zones within the city.

The objective of these drills is to enhance preparedness among civilians and security personnel to effectively respond to any potential untoward incidents. The exercises are part of a nationwide security initiative being rolled out under the supervision of the Ministry of Home Affairs.

As part of this initiative, the central government has drawn up plans to conduct these mega security drills across a total of 259 sensitive sites throughout the country. A high-level meeting, chaired by Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan, was convened on Tuesday to finalize the arrangements for the operation.

During the meeting, officials classified regions vulnerable to attacks into three categories. Hyderabad and Visakhapatnam, both located in the Telugu-speaking states, have been designated as Category-2 cities within this security framework.
