Vijayawada: Taking a serious note of the incident in which two govt hospital doctors performed surgery at a private hospital in Jangareddygudem during office hours, resulting in the death of the patient in 2022, health minister Y Satya Kumar Yadav ordered a comprehensive inquiry into the matter and directed appropriate disciplinary action against the doctors involved.The inquiry was ordered against civil surgeon specialist Dr M Chakradhar and civil assistant surgeon (anaesthesia) Dr S Rakesh, both working at Jangareddygudem area hospital. They performed surgery at a private hospital in gross violation of conduct of rules when they were supposed to discharge their duties at the govt hospital. However, the patient died after a few days, and subsequently, the family members of the deceased filed a complaint against the doctors.In a written explanation regarding the death of the patient, the doctors stated that they had performed the surgery at a private hospital during office hours on humanitarian grounds and claimed there was no negligence on their part, appealing for pardon.The health minister, who focused on ensuring discipline, including the attendance of govt doctors, rejected the written explanation of the two doctors and directed a thorough inquiry into their misconduct.
