SHE Teams Crack Whip On Offenders For Harassing Women In Hyderabad

Hyderabad: SHE Teams Hyderabad continues to uphold its commitment to ensuring safety and justice for women and children by responding quickly to complaints and taking rigorous action against offenders. In the recent past, SHE Teams handled multiple sensitive cases, ensuring timely legal action and support for victims, said Dr. Lavanya NJP, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Women Safety Wing.

SHE Teams received a complaint from a woman, who was being blackmailed by one person, aged 30, working as a private employee befriended the complainant via Facebook and took her to a private room in an OYO hotel where he secretly recorded their intimate photos and videos without her consent. He then threatened to leak the content unless she fulfilled his demands, in three options as meeting him on call, arranging another woman for similar acts, paying Rs.1 lakh in cash.

But the complaint chose the fourth option and approached SHE Teams Hyderabad. SHE Teams responded quickly and apprehended the accused at his residence. Upon confession, a petty case was registered as per the complainant’s request, and after producing him before the magistrate he was sentenced with three days of simple imprisonment.

In a separate case, a complaint was received against a plumber aged 34, and resident of Begumpet. The accused, a neighbour of the complainant, secretly recorded while the victim is celebrating an occasion with her office colleagues. The next day, he unlawfully entered her house and used the recording to blackmail her into a physical relationship, threatening to post the video online.

SHE Teams acted quickly, arrested the accused, and upon his confession, a petty case was booked and after producing him before the magistrate he was sentenced with four days of simple imprisonment.

In another case, a woman residing near Secunderabad Railway Station filed a complaint alleging sexual assault by an unknown person and requested to take necessary action at Prajavani and communicated the same to SHE Teams Hyderabad.

The SHE Teams escorted her to Gopalapuram police station to register an FIR. However, the investigation revealed that she herself is a habitual offender who targets police personnel by asking to use their mobile, later sending obscene content and blackmailing them for money. An FIR has been registered against her at the police station for filing a false case and indulging in extortion.

In one more case, a complaint was received against a GHMC vehicle driver who was posting improper gestures towards women who came to dispose of garbage. SHE Teams conducted a decoy operation and caught the accused. He confessed to the offense and after producing him before the magistrate he was sentenced with three days of simple imprisonment for his indecent behaviour in public.

SHE Teams facilitated the registration of three separate POCSO cases at Chatrinaka, Jubilee Hills, and Madannapet police stations against three individuals who exploited minor girls. The accused persons manipulated the victims by making false promises of love and marriage, engaged in physical relations, and later blackmailed them for continued sexual favour or money.

FIRs were registered under relevant sections of the POCSO Act, and investigations are in progress at the respective police stations. A total of 49 individuals were caught red-handed while misbehaving with women at various public places across Hyderabad.

Out of them, 30 were issued warnings and counseled in the presence of their family members, while two individuals were produced before the magistrate and convicted with two days of imprisonment and a fine of Rs.50.
