So many public and private moments of my family is associated with this Grand Vitara. It never stranded me in the middle of the road, even once.

My Grand Vitara, is finally sold. Most of my friends and family, and I don’t mean just BHPians, associated me with my Grand Vitara. It was part of my life for 17.5 years, and 175000 kms of driving. I never owned any other car for this long. So many public and private moments of my family is associated with this Grand Vitara. It never stranded me in the middle of the road, even once. It was never ever towed, except in offroad outings.
It was hardly being used in the last few months, there was no point keeping it as a collector’s item catching dust. I also didn’t have second parking space in Udupi, so I had to borrow parking slot from a neighbor. At least the new owner will be using it regularly.
I don’t think any other car would become as much part of my life in future. I sold it to a close friend of a close friend. So don’t ask me about selling price, etc. It will remain in the same town and will be serviced in the same service center where it was lovingly pampered throughout its life.

Happy for the new owner, but feel that a part of your heart has been taken away, @Samurai. Yours and Sudev’s inputs facilitated my decision to get my Grand Vitara more than 10.5 years ago. I endorse what you said – “never stranded me”. This isn’t an exciting car to drive, but wherever she’s been, heads have turned. Despite minor unforced issues (due to rodent attacks), the car’s done fantastically well and hasn’t aged. Thank you for authoring the Bible of Grand Vitara ownership threads.

This in itself is testament to the reliability of the Suzuki brand. I liked the timeless look of the Grand Vitara whether under the hood was a 2.0L \ 2.4L engine. When it comes to reliability, Suzuki is to India whats Toyota to the world minus engine longevity.
