Mock drills were conducted in Kurnool and Nandyal by the respective district administrations involving the Police, Fire Services, Medical and Health, and other departments, in accordance with the Union Home Ministry’s directives to help check preparedness for emergencies, in the wake of heightened tensions with Pakistan.
In Nandyal, the drill was held at Ramnath centre, where personnel from various departments exhibited the preparedness to deal with emergencies. A mock bomb was triggered on the road and as the people nearby fell down, police, fire services personnel and 108 ambulance personnel swooped at the place and carried out the drill.
While the bomb disposal squad scoured the area for the possibility of more explosives, fire personnel were involved in dousing flames, rescuing and shifting the injured into ambulances.
Speaking on the occasion, Superintendent of Police (SP) Adhiraj Singh Rana and Joint Collector C. Vishnu Charan said that mock drills will help during terror attacks and natural disasters. They said that the administration shall be prepared to deal with emergencies in the wake of escalating tensions between India and Pakistan.
In Kurnool, the drill was held at the Kondareddy Buruju in the city. As the siren blew, police directed all those passing on the road to leave their vehicles and rush to safer places as part of the drill.
