Hyderabad: The Supreme Court has overturned a High Court order that had previously discharged IAS officer Srilakshmi in the Obulapuram Mining Company (OMC) case.
In a significant ruling, the apex court has directed a renewed inquiry into her alleged involvement, mandating that the investigation be done within the next three months.
The Supreme Court explicitly stated that this fresh inquiry should proceed independently, without taking into account the 2022 judgment of the High Court that had cleared Srilakshmi’s name. This decision effectively revives the legal proceedings against the senior bureaucrat in connection with the controversial mining case.
In 2022, the High Court had ruled in favour of Srilakshmi, discharging her from the OMC case. However, the Supreme Court’s latest order rejects this decision, paving the way for a new round of scrutiny into her role in the matter.
