Actor and humanitarian Sonu Sood will serve as one of the judges for the grand finale of Miss World 2025, scheduled to take place on May 31 at Hitex in Hyderabad.
Known for his philanthropic efforts, especially through the Sood Charity Foundation, he will also be honoured with a Humanitarian Award during the Miss World event for his contributions, including initiatives supporting breast cancer patients.
In a conversation with The HinduMr. Sood shared his thoughts on judging the competition, his humanitarian ethos, and what the global pageant means for Telangana.
How does it feel to take on the role of being a judge in the grand finale?
It feels like a huge responsibility, but also an incredible honour. To be part of such a grand and meaningful platform is humbling. The event will bring together voices from 120 countries, and it is not just about physical beauty, it’s about beauty with purpose. When I spoke to the Miss World team, I shared my experience of supporting breast cancer patients by sponsoring their surgeries. Judging a platform like Miss World goes far beyond glamour or how someone walks the ramp. What truly matters is how contestants give back to society, the kind of voice they carry, the journey they envision, and the lives they aim to change.
How have you seen the Miss World pageant evolve over the years?
It has evolved tremendously. Earlier, the focus may have been more on glamour, but today, it’s about purpose and social impact. The awareness and intent have shifted. Now, it is about how you use your voice to create change, how you can influence thought and inspire action. As the competition has matured, so has the quality of participants. Many of them have gone on to excel, be it in cinema, philanthropy, or business, and that is what makes this platform so powerful and special.
How do you think hosting Miss World will benefit Hyderabad and Telangana?
When a global event like this is hosted, the entire world watches. Telangana is already doing remarkably well, and this is a chance for the state to showcase its warmth, hospitality, and cultural wealth. When delegates and visitors go back with beautiful memories, they become ambassadors for the state. It draws international attention and highlights how platforms like Miss World, through the lens of beauty with purpose, can bring about real change.
