The Golden State Warriors shocked the NBA world with their 99-88 win over the Minnesota Timberwolves on Tuesday that came to fruition without Stephen Curry in the lineup for most of the game.
Curry was out of the Warriors’ lineup for more than 70 percent of the evening as the Warriors overcame his absence through stellar play from Draymond Green, Jimmy Butler, Buddy Hield and others.
On Thursday, just hours before the Warriors’ Game 2 showdown with the Wolves at Target Arena, the website SF Gate shared a story on Curry’s emotional mood after the injury in the locker room which began turning heads on X.
“Steve Kerr, in all his profundity, couldn’t say anything as he watched the superstar he’s coached for 11 seasons succumb to the suffocating disappoint” of his injury just before halftime, Warriors writer Marcus Thompson wrote according to The Athletic.
“Kerr already knew, as tears fell from Steph Curry’s eyes, the heartbreak still fresh from the news that he sprained his left hamstring.
“Words weren’t what Curry needed. Or what Kerr had,” Thompson added.
Kerr reportedly hugged Curry before the four-time NBA championship winning shooting guard gathered his thoughts and emotions.
Curry reportedly began “wiping the tears away, putting on a brave face, uplifting his teammates and talking about what he was seeing,” Thompson added, actions that preceded one of the Dubs’ biggest wins of the season.
“Weak article,” one fan said, one of numerous people who criticized the invasion of privacy.
“The fact that a man crying makes headlines is exactly why I wish living on Mars was an option,” another person wrote.
“Whatever happened to discretion,” another fan mused.
“We all would (cry),” still another fan said as part of spirited comments on Thursday.
