14.7 Kg Of Ganja Seized Near Kazipet Station

Warangal:As part of the state-wide special drive to eradicate ganja and narcotic substances, excise officials seized 14.7 kilograms of dry ganja near Kazipet Railway Station in Hanamkonda district. The operation was conducted under the directives of Excise Enforcement Director Shahnawaz Qasim and supervised by Warangal Excise Deputy Commissioner Anjan Rao. Though a case has been registered, no arrests have been made so far.

The Kazipet excise team, led by CI Chandramohan, launched intensive inspections in suspected areas following intelligence inputs that ganja was being smuggled from Visakhapatnam and Bhubaneswar to Mumbai via trains such as the Konark Express, East Coast Express, Gandhidham Express and LTT Express.

During the search, officials found an unattended bag near the station. Upon inspection, the bag was found to contain brown-coloured packets emitting a strong odour. The substance was identified as dry ganja weighing 14.7 kg, with an estimated market value of Rs 90,000.

The CI said the smugglers may have abandoned the bag due to heightened police surveillance. He confirmed that efforts are underway to identify and apprehend the culprits. He also warned that possession, transport or consumption of ganja is a punishable offence and said strict action will be taken against those who are carrying out such activities. He urged youth to stay away from drugs and safeguard their futures. The operation team included SI Tirupati and head constables Khaleel, Lalaiah, Kotilingam, Ayub and Rasheed.
