Minister for Municipal Administration and Urban Development Ponguru Narayana has laid focus on creating as much lung space as possible for his Nellore city constituency.

As his portfolio involves development of parks and creation of greenery in open spaces, playgrounds, traffic islands etc., he is keen on implementing the same first in his constituency, to be replicated across the State later.

After inaugurating a number of children’s parks having walking tracks, children’s play area and gymnasia recently, the Minister visited Aravapalem in Bodigadithota locality on Sunday (May 11) where he received appeals from the public to develop a park for their convenience.

The locality, which is a popular residential locality for people from the lower and middle income groups, badly needed such a public facility for relaxation, the local residents urged him.

Directing Commissioner of Municipal Corporation of Nellore Y.O. Nandan to pursue the matter immediately, Mr. Narayana announced: “Aravapalem will have the biggest park in Nellore city.”

At the same time, he expressed dismay at the indiscriminate disposal of garbage and appealed to the public to utilise the facilities provided by the civic body to keep the city clean.
