Warangal: Godavari water will be supplied to every acre of land in Station Ghanpur constituency for two cropping seasons, according to former deputy chief minister and Station Ghanpur MLA Kadiyam Srihari.
The MLA accompanied by the officials of departments concerned conducted inspected the ongoing desilting and tree removal works along the main canal from Ghanpur to Nawabpet in Raghunathpally mandal of Jangaon district on Sunday.
MLA Srihari said that in addition to the main canal, desilting, tree removal and levelling operations are in full swing across 10 distributary and sub-canals. Sand mounds were re being cleared at Srimannarayanapuram and a new bridge is under construction at Kanchanapalli.
He stressed the importance of expediting the works and completing them by June 30, ensuring that water supply for agricultural purposes is made available to farmers by July.
The MLA assured that CC lining for the entire canal system will be completed by the next Yasangi (Rabi) season, enabling uninterrupted irrigation for the next 50 years.
He criticised the previous BRS government for its ineffectiveness and failure to provide even a single house to people during its 10-year rule. Whereas, in the Indiramma Rajyam, 3,500 houses were sanctioned in the constituency, he pointed out.
Srihari accused the BRS of launching a malicious campaign against the Congress government out of frustration after losing power. Some BRS leaders were deliberately politicising all developmental works, but people should ignore such leaders, he urged.
The only beneficiaries of BRS rule were the Kalvakuntla family, Srihari alleged. “How did they acquire crores worth of assets, hundreds of acres and luxury palaces,” he asked. Srihari called upon people to support the Congress government for its commitment to the development of Telangana and the welfare of the poor.
