Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Cyber Crime PoliceStation launched an investigation into a case of alleged hate speech and incitement to violence on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter). The case was registered on Thursday based on a complaint filed by a 34-year-old Md Irfan Khan, a resident of Hussaini Alam.According to the complaint, Khan noticed a threatening post on X at 11:30 am on Wednesday while going through social media posts. The post from an X user contained explicit threats of violence against Hyderabad MPAsaduddin Owaisi. According to the complainant, there was a reference to Goshamahal MLA Raja Singhalso in the post containing inflammatory communal content. “I urge you to investigate the source of this post, identify the person behind it, and initiate appropriate legal action against him,” the complainant requested the police. Based on the complaint, a case was registered under sections 353(2) (Statements conducing to public mischief), 352 (Intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace), and 351(2) (criminal intimidation) of the BNS.“We take such cases ofcommunal incitement very seriously. Our team is trying to identify the accused,” said an officer from Cyber Crime PS.
