Warangal: Excise officials arrested three youths, including supplier Kundela Indra Teja and two consumers, and seized the 700 grams of dry ganja, worth `13,000, that they were carrying on the outskirts of Parimala Colony in Hanamkonda district.
Excise officials said Indra Teja confessed that he had been selling small quantities of ganja to others to fund his habit, and had acquired the narcotic from some persons in Dhoolpet, Hyderabad. The other two had purchased ganja from Indra Teja for personal use.
As part of a special drive against NDPS (Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances) drugs, officials were acting on the instructions of deputy commissioner G. Anjan Rao and district prohibition and excise (P&E) officer K. Chandrasekhar
Officials also seized the mobile phones of all three accused. A case has been registered under the NDPS Act and the accused were produced before the Hanamkonda court. Following the judge’s directions, they were remanded to judicial custody.
The surprise checks were carried out under the leadership of P&E sub-inspectors Venkanna Chandu and B. Krishnamurthy.
