Vijayawada: A rowdy-sheeter was attacked and injured by a group of local youth following an altercation on late Sunday night near the Kotha Road area in Tirupati. The injured identified as Pappu Royal, a history-sheeter, had allegedly attempted to intimidate the youngsters who were playing cricket.According to police, a drunk Pappu confronted the youth and demanded that they vacated the ground as he wanted to sit there and drink alcohol.Despite his aggressive tone and threats, the boys initially ignored his provocations and continued playing. However, the situation escalated when Pappu called some of his accomplices over and threatened to attack the youngsters if they did not leave the ground immediately. The verbal exchange quickly turned into a heated argument, and tempers flared on both sides.In retaliation, the youngsters hit Pappu and the latter sustained multiple injuries. As the fight drew attention, locals rushed to the spot and informed police.Sources said that Pappu has a history of violent behaviour and was previously involved in several criminal activities in Tirupati, including during the municipal corporation elections. He was also booked in the past for attacking TDP leader Sugunamma and others.Tirupati DSP Bhaktavatsalam told TOI that police are verifying the facts and a case is yet to be registered with the Alipiri police. While no official arrest has been made so far, both parties are likely to be questioned as part of the inquiry.
