Volkswagen Tayron SUV Testing Begins

The Volkswagen Tayron 7-seater SUV was recently spotted testing in India. The spied model was painted in an Oyster Silver colour scheme with no camouflage at all. While there are no official words on its India launch timeline, the SUV is reported to arrive in 2026. The Tayron is essentially a successor to the VW Tiguan Allspace, which will be positioned against the Toyota Fortuner, Jeep Meridian, Skoda kodiaq and MG Gloster.

Engine Specs:

The engine specifications for the Indian market will be revealed closer to its launch. However, the Volkswagen Tayron is expected to be offered with a 2.0L turbo petrol engine with two states of tune – 184bhp with 320Nm and 217bhp with 350Nm. Transmission duties will be performed by a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. The SUV will come with the 4X4 capabilities. Globally, the Tayron is available with four different powertrain options – petrol, mild hybrid petrol, plug-in hybrid petrol and diesel.

In India, the new Volkswagen 7-seater SUV will be brought in through the completely knocked down (CKD) route. Prices are likely to start from Rs 35 lakh for the base variant and go up to Rs 45 lakh for the fully-loaded trim (ex-showroom).
