A meeting on digital mapping for improved medical service coverage, in Hyderabad on Tuesday.
In a push to enhance healthcare access across Hyderabad, a session on digital mapping for improved medical service coverage was held at the National Institute of Urban Management (NIUM) on Tuesday.
The meeting brought together stakeholders from UNICEF, NIUM, and the Hyderabad district administration, to discuss how geospatial tools can be leveraged to close gaps in public health delivery.
The initiative aims to harness the power of digital mapping and open-source software, and boost vaccine outreach and medical service penetration, particularly in underserved areas of the city, said a release.
The session began with an address by the UNICEF team, which underscored the objectives of the initiative. Officials stressed the importance of data-driven planning in achieving equitable health outcomes, especially in urban and peri-urban pockets, where service delivery often falls short.
A detailed presentation by the NIUM team followed, offering an overview of the digital mapping framework. The presentation highlighted the integration of multiple mapping layers, tools and methodology used for data collection, and the project’s reliance on open-source platforms for scalability and accessibility.
