Shedeur Sanders not feeling pressure from his doubters

There are two ways to look at the story, and the admission, Jordan Poyer made in his appearance on “Good Morning Football.”
One is that as a member of the Buffalo Bills’ secondary, he went so far above and beyond to play in a game in Kansas City that looking back on it, he recognizes how extreme it was and that his older self has grown wiser. Live and learn.
The second way?
Simply put, you could question whether Poyer’s heart was into playing for the Miami Dolphins last season.
Speaking on NFL Network, Poyer recalled the time he suffered multiple injuries, including fractured ribs and a punctured lung, and was not allowed to fly. So with a big game at the Chiefs on the horizon, he rented an RV, hired a driver, and spent 2 1/2 days on the road to get to Kansas City. They parked the RV in a tunnel at the stadium, then hopped back in the RV after the game and drove back to Buffalo.
“I look back and at the moment, it was kind of crazy,” he said. “What are we doing?”
Speaking directly to show co-host and ex-Bills teammate Mitch Morse, Poyer then added this:
“But I look back and it was for guys like you, bro. To be honest, I would have never done that in Miami last year. If that was the case, I would never have done that. But for like you, bro, for guys like the guys that I was playing for, bro, you were my guys, bro.”
On one hand, nobody could ever ask a player to take such extreme measures for a football game.
Still, the way Poyer said he would “never” have gone so far for his Dolphins teammates doesn’t seem to say much for how he views them. It’s not the first time Poyer was candid in his comparisons of the Dolphins and the Bills, for whom he played seven seasons. Shortly after signing, he said he hoped to change the culture in Miami because the Bills looked at the Dolphins as a team that “might fold” under pressure.
Poyer was a Pro Bowl safety for the Bills in 2022 who signed with the Dolphins as a free agent last season, but had a poor season on an 8-9 team. Although 34 years old, he hasn’t closed the door on his NFL career.
“Last year was an extremely tough year on so many levels,” he said. “Our team wasn’t very good. I didn’t play as well as I wanted to play. It was just a really tough year, obviously, transitioning from Buffalo to Miami, cultures being different, systems being different, you know, it just didn’t work out the way that anybody had hoped. But at the same time, I’m thankful for it all. I’m thankful for all the moments, all the friendships. And would I like to play again? Absolutely. It’d be ideal to have a fantasy ending and be able to retire a Bill.”
