Bollywood’s another horror-comedy Kapkapiii, recently launched its trailer, and that seeks to combine scary spooks with humour chaos. The film, features Shreyas Talpade and Tusshar Kapoor, is the last directorial outing of late Sangeeth Sivan, who provided Bollywood cult classics like Kyaa Kool Hain Hum.
The story, revolves around carefree friends inadvertently raise mischievous spirits using a Ouija board, gives Kapkapiii a prospect of light frights and mirth.

The chemistry between Talpade and Kapoor is great, it’s familiar and warm. But the excitement around Kapkapiii is mixed. Bollywood’s recent horror-comedies have failed to impress and this one seems to be following the same pattern.
The trailer is predictable and has no real scares or big laughs. It’s also a remake of the Malayalam film Romacham (2023) which raises questions about originality.

Despite the star cast and the director’s legacy, the film has tough competition in a genre that has seen many flops except for a few hits from Maddock Entertainment. Its high time Bollywood should bring its own original content rather than mere remakes.
With a release date of May 23, Kapkapiii has to work hard to stand out. The trailer has no new elements and weak promotions might make it difficult for the film to get a big audience. But fans of light horror-comedy might find some fun in this spooky silly ride.
