Major fire at residential building in Hyderabad, 7 people rescued | Hyderabad News

A major fire erupted in a three-storeyed residential building near Gol Masjid in the busy Begum Bazar area of Hyderabad Thursday morning, said officials. At least seven residents, including a one-month-old infant, were rescued by firefighters after the fire broke out on the third floor of the building.

Six fire tenders from Moghalpura, Gowliguda, Secretariat, High Court and Salarjung Museum fire stations were pressed into rescue operations at the site. The fire department deployed a bronto skylift and a ladder for the rescue operation and to bring people trapped inside the ground-plus-three-storey residential structure.

The station fire officer of Moghulpura, G Venkateshwar Reddy, said a fire emergency call was received at 8.35 am. “Six fire brigades, including two vehicles from Gowliguda station, from five fire stations, are on the job of bringing down the fire. The fire is almost under control, and all the people have been rescued. Two people were brought down using a ladder first, and then five others were rescued after the bronto skylift reached the site. There is only one entrance or exit to the building, and it is a congested area. This is delaying the fire operation,” he added.

The presence of a plastic warehouse within the building caused the rapid spread of the fire. Preliminary findings indicate a potential electrical short circuit as the initial cause of the fire, and an investigation has been launched.
