Hyderabad: Banjara Hills police have registered a case against a 24-year-old driver for allegedly blackmailing and threatening a catering businessman using private photos and videos of his wife.According to police, the accused—who was previously in a relationship with the complainant’s wife—demanded ₹1 crore, threatening to upload intimate photos and videos on pornographic websites if his demands were not met.In a complaint filed at Banjara Hills police station on May 14, the 37-year-old businessman alleged that the accused, a resident of Ahmed Nagar, had maintained an affair with his wife in the past.The accused allegedly made repeated threats, including an incident in Nov 2024, where he confronted the complainant at his residence in Jubilee Hills. More recently, on April 4, 2025, the accused reportedly approached the complainant at a cafe in Banjara Hills, demanding that he divorce his wife.Following the complaint, police registered a case under sections 308(2) (extortion) and 351(2) (criminal intimidation) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.“The complainant’s advocate filed the complaint on his behalf. We are in the process of recording the complainant’s statement to verify the facts,” sub-inspector P Ravinder said.
