Hyderabad: The GHMC has stated that since May 1 it was able to resolve only 5,800 among the 9,000 complaints related to non-functioning of streetlights. The remaining complaints were not addressed due to lack of manpower.
The contract of Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL) ended on April 30 and the corporation utilising the services of vendors who used to work for EESL earlier.
Meanwhile, the corporation has appointed a new additional commissioner for its electricity wing, – K. Venu Gopal.
When the contract of ESSL contract was in place, dozens of complaints were left unattended. According to GHMC officials, steps have been taken to purchase bulbs and other equipment and reviews are being conducted every day.
A statement said 17 agencies will continue for another month to take care of lights and install new ones.
Steps are being taken to resolve complaints within 48 hours and the target is to resolve the remaining 3,200 complaints within a week, said GHMC in a press release. GHMC urged the people to report complaints related to streetlights through the MyGHMC app.
